Lady Bears Varsity Soccer Cruises to 3-0 Win Over Dunwoody; Remain in Top-10 Ranked Teams in Ga.

The Lady Bears Varsity Soccer team (currently ranked #7 in Region AAAAAA for the State of Georgia) hosted Dunwoody on Friday night, March 10th, and cruised to a 3-0 win taking their 7AAAAAA record to 2-1 and overall record to 6-2.

The Lady Bears bucked their recent trend of slow starts scoring three goals in the first 17 minutes of the match as the combination of Charlotte Teeter (three goals) and Julia Schukle (two assists) proved too much for the Dunwoody defense to handle.

The Lady Bears opened the scoring when Julia Schukle crossed the ball to a waiting Charlotte Teeter who headed the ball back in the direction from which it came and into the corner of goal. The Lady Bears extended their lead to 2-0 when Julia Schukle was tripped by a Dunwoody defender and was awarded a penalty kick, which was taken and scored by Charlotte Teeter. The scoring was wrapped up at the 17-minute mark of the first half when Julia Schukle again crossed the ball to Charlotte Teeter who finished this time with her foot to secure the hat trick. The Lady Bears defense was never really threatened as the shutout was secured by a combination of Reagan Dunwoodie and Hannah Morrone.

Coach Swanburg commented after the match that "the attacking front finally clicked after working all week at practice on crossing and finishing in the final third.  The girls have been translating what we do on the training grounds and putting it into play in a live game environment and we are seeing good results because of it."

The Lady Bears will continue regional play as they travel to Alpharetta on Friday, March 17 (kickoff 5.55pm) and John's Creek on Friday, March 24 (kickoff 5.55pm).

Go Lady Bears!
