Lady Bears Varsity Soccer Continues Winning Ways in Region by Defeating Sprayberry

The Lady Bears Varsity Soccer team continued their unbeaten streak in regional play on Friday night, March 18th when they hosted the Sprayberry Yellow Jackets.

The Lady Bears easily secured the victory despite playing shorthanded with many players out of town or injured.  The Lady Bears dominated play from start to finish en route to a 7-0 win with the visitors from Sprayberry rarely testing the Lady Bears' defense.  A summary of scoring on the night follows:

  • The opener was scored 10-15 minutes into the first half when Mary Koch knocked home a rebound off of a shot by Meredith Haak;
  • Charlotte Teeter scored the second goal of the night on a header knocked in off a corner kick by Natalia Garcia;
  • With four minutes left in the first half, Sara Bailey scored the Lady Bears' third goal of the game to give the Lady Bears a 3-0 lead at halftime;
  • Natalia Garcia opened the second half scoring roughly 10 minutes into the second half when she beat the keeper with a beautiful shot from distance; and
  • The Lady Bears finished the match with a flurry of three goals in the last 10 minutes of play, with one each scored by Hannah Behner, Natalia Garcia (second on the night) and Sara Bailey (second on the night).

The Lady Bears go to 3-0 in region and will continue regional play Tuesday, March 22 when they travel to Forsyth Central High School for a 5.55pm kickoff and Riverwood on Friday, March 25 for a 5.55pm kickoff.

Go Bears!
