Lady Bears Varsity Soccer Overcomes Early Deficit to Gain Tie Against Roswell

The Lady Bears Varsity Soccer team conceded two early goals to Roswell on Tuesday night, Feb. 16th, but overcame the early deficit with two goals of their own and left the "Hornet's Nest" with a tie.

Roswell opened the scoring at the 20' mark of the first half with a shot from distance when they picked up a loose ball from an attempted clearance and quickly took aim at goal.  The Hornets extended their lead to 2-0 with 10 minutes left in the first half when they stretched the Bears' defense off of a counter attack. The attack materialized on the left wing and was converted when a low cross to the 10 yard mark was easily scored by a streaking Hornet that had gotten inside of the Bears' defense.  The Lady Bears recovered well and scored from the ensuing kickoff when Carly Dickman played a ball into space behind the Hornets' defense that Julia Schukle was able to run onto, beat the goalkeeper and then find the net from a very challenging angle.  The game went to halftime with the Bears trailing 2-1.

At the 30' mark of the second, Charlotte Teeter, playing the role of "super sub" for the day, had an immediate impact on the match notching a goal within minutes of coming onto the field when she beat her defender on the left wing and neatly tucked the ball into the lower right hand corner of the net.  The game ended with the score tied 2-2, a nice result coming from 2-0 down with sloppy field conditions due to steady rain over the course of the game.

The Lady Bears record on the season is 0-2-1.  Next up, the Lady Bears travel to North Springs, Friday, March 4th at 5:55pm.

Go Bears!
