Lady Bears Varsity Soccer Defeats Sequoyah 2-0

The Lady Bears Varsity Soccer team posted its second regional win against Sequoyah, Monday, March 3.

A scoreless first half was controlled with the Bears maintaining possession 90 percent of the time and taking 13 shots on goal.

The Bears posted two goals quickly returning from half-time.  The first was a strong 20-yard shot from Carlie Shayne, and another two minutes later, came from a beautiful cross and assist from Natalia Garcia to Abigail Halbert.

The Chiefs came into the second half with a fight to take over possession with some success, but the team was shut down in its attempts to score with a well-defended goal by freshman goalie, Anna Johnson.   Strong defensive efforts by Allie Wynne, Haleigh Carr and Amanda Feely contributed to the Chiefs remaining scoreless.

The Lady Bears head in town to face Westminster on Thursday, March 6, at 8:00 p.m. and come home Friday night, March 7 at 5:30 p.m. to meet region rival Northview!
