Lady Bears Varsity Soccer Defeat Bulldogs in Overtime

Cambridge Women's Varsity Soccer was involved in a nail biter Friday, February 28th against the Forsyth Central Bulldogs.

The score mounted quickly to 2-2 in the first 15 minutes of play, with the Bulldogs scoring quickly within the first minute. The Bears fought back with goals from Natalia Garcia and Carly Dickman.

With the game tied at 2-2, the Bears maintained possession and was led by the strong midfielders freshman Amy Pollmann, senior Peyton Sedgwick, and the defense of Nikki Hlebec and Haleigh Carr. A header by freshman forward Abigail Halbert gave Cambridge the lead 3-2, but not for long, as the Bulldogs answered before the half and tied the score at 3-3.

The second half was a battle of the Cambridge Bears verses the Bulldog's goalkeeper. Despite many Bear shots on goal, the game remained tied and went into overtime.

The Bears continued to punish the Bulldogs with shots on goal, and the game winner came with 1:14 to go by Kiely Gaertner, clutching the first win for the Bears in Region play, 4-3.

The Lady Bears will face Sequoyah @ Sequoyah (Monday, March 3rd) and Northview @ home (Friday March 7th) in the coming week for more Region play.

See you there!!
