On Friday, November 16th, Cambridge hosted Roswell and North Springs at Cumming Aquatic Center.

Diving

In the 6-dive competition, Maddox Riddick took second in the boys' competition with a score of 136.60. On the girls' side, Kate McKay took first with a score of 192.80, followed by teammate Haley Copeland in 2nd with a score of 157.90, Noor El-Gazairly in 3rd with a score of 154.45, Paige Jaeger in 4th with a score of 117.90, Michaela Prevallet in 5th with 89.15 and Camila Montes in 6th with 57.10.

Swimming

In the boys' 200-yard medley relay, the A-relay (Jack O'Connor, Konata Ford, Aiden Goodnight, Michael O'Connor) took 2nd with a time of 1:51.29. The B-relay (Nick DiPonzio, John Empoliti, Gabe Montes, Abhi Malik) took 4th.

In the girls' 200-yard medley relay, the A-relay (Lauren Jonsson, Grace Ghent, Claire Kerber, Olivia Cash) took first with a time of 2:01.39. The B-relay (Libby Jones, Adyson LeeMaster, Rachel Henderson, Morgan Young) took third.

In the boys' 200-yard freestyle event, Ben Grottle easily sailed into first with a time of 1:49.68. Michael O'Connor took 5th with a time of 1:57.72.

In the girls' 200-yard freestyle, Abby Grottle took first with a time of 1:59.34. Libby Jones took 4th with a time of 2:16.33, Morgan Young took 5th with a time of 2:20.92. Anna Kerber took 7th and Delaney Goodell took 8th.

In the boys' 200-yard individual medley, Jack O'Connor took 3rd with a time of 2:15.96 and Gabe Montes took 4th with a time of 2:20.27.

In the girls' 200-yard individual medley, Lauren Jonsson took first with a state qualifying time of 2:18.08. Camille Brown took 4th with a time of 2:30.52. Rachel Henderson took 6th, Laura Watkins took 9th, Isabel Filipek took 10th.

In the boys' 50-yard freestyle, John Empoliti took 4th with a time of 26.45, which was a new personal best. Harrison Cottick took 7th, and Abhi Malik took 10th.

In the girls' 50-yard freestyle, Brooke McLain took first with a 27.00 followed immediately by teammate Emma Guy in 2nd with a 27.06. Sydney Forbes took 3rd, and Emma Solomon took 4th.

In the boys' 100-yard butterfly, Billy Blood took first with an amazing time of 56.19 which easily qualifies him to state. Michael O'Connor took 3rd with a time of 1:01.71, Konata Ford in 5th with a 1:04.05 and Aiden Goodnight in 6th with a 1:05.91.

In the girls' 100-yard butterfly, Abby Grottle easily took first with a time of 1:03.18 which easily qualifies her for state. Teammate Claire Kerber raced Grottle to the end and the pace helped set Kerber up to qualify for her first individual state qualifying event with a time of 1:03.94. Olivia Cash took 4th, Emma Guy took 5th, and Rachel Henderson took 6th.

In the boys' 100-yard freestyle, Ben Grottle easily took first with a 52.50, which was five-second before the next finisher but just outside the state qualifying time. Harrison Cottick took 9th and Abhi Malik took 10th.

In the girls' 100-yard freestyle, Brooke McLain took 2nd with a state qualifying time of 57.95 followed by teammate Grace Ghent in 3rd with a time of 1:00.01, Anna Kerber in 4th, Sydney Chambers in 5th, Olivia Cash in 6th, Adyson LeeMaster in 7th, and Priscila Rodriguez-Sevilla in 8th.

In the boys' 500-yard freestyle, Nick DiPonzio took 3rd with a time of 5:37.06 and Aiden Goodnight in 5th with a time of 5:54.96.

In the girls' 500-yard freestyle, Morgan Young took 2nd and Delaney Goodell took 3rd.

In the boys' 200-yard freestyle relay, the A-relay (Ben Grottle, Gabe Montes, Billy Blood, Konata Ford) took first with a time of 1:40.93.

In the girls' 200-yard freestyle relay, the A-relay (Abby Grottle, Brooke McLain, Emma Guy, Camille Brown) took 2nd place with a state qualifying time of 1:48.26 and Grottle swimming a state qualifying leadoff leg of 25.60. The B-relay (Anna Kerber, Adyson LeeMaster, Sydney Forbes, Rachel Henderson) took 3rd, and C-relay (Isabel Filipek, Priscila Rodriguez-Sevilla, Laura Watkins, Emma Solomon) took 5th, and the D-relay (Adi Avishai, Amelia Duffner, Paige Jaeger, Katie Fox) took 6th.

In the 100-yard backstroke event, Billy Blood continued his great night by taking 2nd with a state qualifying time of 58.86. Jack O'Connor finished in 3rd with a time of 1:01.93, Nick DiPonzio took 5th with a time of 1:05.57.

In the girls' 100-yard backstroke event, Lauren Jonsson easily took first by over four-seconds with a state qualifying time of 1:04.37. Libby Jones touched in 2nd with a time of 1:08.64, Grace Ghent took 4th, Sydney Chambers took 5th, Camille Brown took 6th, Amelia Duffner took 8th, and Laura Watkins took 9th.

In the boys' 100-yard breaststroke event, Konata Ford was leading the pack but had to stop midway through the event due to a shoulder injury. He will remain out of the pool until further assessed. Gabe Montes took second with a time of 1:09.87 and John Empoliti in 6th.

In the girls' 100-yard breastroke, Claire Kerber took 4th a 1:21.78 and Sydney Forbes in 5th. Adyson LeeMaster took 7th, Emma Solomon took 9th, Adi Avishai took 10th, Paige Jaeger took 11th, and Katie Fox took 13th.

In the boys' 400-yard freestyle relay, the A-relay (Ben Grottle, Billy Blood, Nick DiPonzio, Michael O'Connor) took 2nd with a time of 3:34.25. The B-relay (Abhi Malik, John Empoliti, Jack O'Connor, Aiden Goodnight) took 4th.

In the girls' 400-yard freestyle relay, the A-relay (Abby Grottle, Lauren Jonsson, Brooke McLain, Camille Brown) took first by an over 15-second lead from the next finishing team with a time of 3:55.11. Lauren Jonsson's leadoff leg split of 57.50 qualified for a state individual cut in the 100-yard freestyle. The B-relay (Olivia Cash, Emma Guy, Claire Kerber, Grace Ghent) took 3rd, the C-relay (Morgan Young, Sydney Chambers, Delaney Goodell, Libby Jones) took 4th, and the D-relay (Laura Watkins, Isabel Filipek, Priscila Rodriguez Sevilla, Emma Solomon) took 5th.

Preview of Next Week

The Bears will host South and West Forsyth as well as Riverwood on Monday, Nov. 19th at Cumming Aquatic Center at 11:00 AM.  Divers will compete first, followed by swimming immediately following.

The Bears will then host Lassiter, Blessed Trinity and Westlake on November 30th at Cumming Aquatic Center at 8:15 AM with diving starting off the meet followed by swimming.
