Cambridge Varsity Boy's Tennis Shuts Out Blessed Trinity after Dropping Close Match to Chattahoochee

Cambridge vs. Blessed Trinity, Tuesday, March 22nd

Cambridge Boys tennis won in convincing fashion 5-0 on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon against the Titans of Blessed Trinity.

The singles lines of Carson Harrell (1S), Drew Fruehauf (2S) and Ryan Edmiston (3S) played very clean tennis to register the victory.  Carson capitalized on his big topspin forehand and showed patience against the counter punching style of his opponent to gain the win.  Drew moved his opponent very well from side to side to force errors and hit clean winners. Lastly, Ryan capitalized on his big serve to keep his opponent on the defensive to score the 2 set win.

The double lines again were dominate each winning in two sets.  Joey Ladaga and Zac Hirschler (1S) powered thru their opponents with strong groundstrokes and minimizing errors. Jason Weiner and Kez Fitzgerald (2D) racked up another win on Jason's consistent volleys and Kez's dependable returns.

Next up for the Bears will be Lovette at Hopewell on Thursday, March 24th (weather permitting) and at Kell on Friday, March 25th.

 


 

Cambridge vs. Chattahoochee, Monday, March 21st

The Bears lost a close match against the 6A Cougars of Chatahoochee 3-2 on a windy Monday afternoon, March 21st.

Carson Harrell (1S) fought brilliantly against his opponent, who is ranked Top 50 in GA. It was close in the beginning with Carson and his opponent trading big top spin groundstrokes.  His opponent was a little more consistent on this day and took the win. 

Drew Fruehauf (2S) also traded shots from the baseline with his opponent but was unable to convert as many winners and fell in two sets. Josh Wills (3S) also ran up against a very skilled singles player with an all court game. Despite mixing up his own game from the baseline and the net, he fell to his opponent in 2 sets.

On the doubles front, Zac Hirschler and Joey Ladaga (1S) won in 2 sets as did Kez Fitsgerald and Jason Weiner (2D). 

Next up for the Bears are a couple of non-region matches against Blessed Trinity and Lovette and then a region contest vs Kell.
