Cambridge Varsity Boy's Tennis Falls in State Semi-Finals to Starr's Mill

Cambridge Boy's Tennis team fought hard at each line but eventually were closed out by Starr's Mill 3-0 on Monday afternoon, May 4th, in front of the largest crowd of the season.

The doubles team of Zac Hirschler and Kez Fitzgerald lost in 3 sets after taking the first 6-4.  Drew Fruehauf (3S), who has been playing awesome tennis, lost in 2 sets to his opponent who made some great shots.  Carson Harrell played with intensity but fell to a very good player at line 1 in a match that featured long rallies.

Joey Ladaga was still battling when the match ended. David Ashcom and Brenner Lapid, were in the 3rd set  when the match ended and had battled back to win the 2nd set after dropping the first.

This season was a year of firsts for the boys Varsity team. First undefeated region season! First region championship! First trip to the state semi-finals! The team played with a lot of heart and have much to be proud of!

Congratulations to Coach Feldman and the entire team that graduates three dedicated seniors, Grant Hollinsworth, David Ashcom, and  Brenner Lapid, who have been with the team since the inception of the school.

Returning next year is a good mix of experienced players and young talent that have the potential to excel again in 2016.

Go Bears!
