The Cambridge Boys Varsity tennis team earned another region win with a 5-0 verdict over the Longhorns of Kell in a Monday, March 23rd make up match.
Kez Fitzgerald (1S) hit the ball well in route to a 2 & 2 win against a feisty opponent. Kez hit several backhand winners and forced errors on the other side of the net.
At 2 singles , Joey Ladaga continues to cruise in his matches winning this one 0 & 1. Joey was very consistent and picked his spots to attack. He returned his opponents big serve well during the match.
Finally at the 3 line, Ryan Edmiston closed his match out on a service ace which snuffed any chance of going to a 3rd set to register a 6-1, 6-4 victory.
On the double side of the ledger, the 1 dubs team of Brenner Lapid and David Ashcom won easily 6-0, 6-0. The two seniors have been practicing hard and they are seeing their work rewarded on the court, evidenced by a deft drop shot by Ashcom to end the match.
At 2 dubs, Grant Hollingsworth and Jason Weiner also won efficiently 1 & 0 on Grant's blistering forehand and Jason's great volleys.
Next up for the Bears is a talented Marist team at their home courts Tuesday, March 24th, and then a makeup match at Sprayberry on Wednesday March, 25th.
The next home match is against Johns Creek on March 31st.
Go Bears.
