Men's Tennis Win in Rounds 1 & 2 of State Tourney; Advance to State Quarterfinals

Men's Tennis Win in Rounds 1 & 2 of State Tourney; Advance to State Quarterfinals

The Cambridge Men's Tennis team moved on to the State Quarterfinals with 2 impressive wins last week.

On Wednesday April 23rd, the team traveled to North Paulding and earned a 3-0 victory.  All 5 lines played extremely well in some of the best conditions of the year.  The 1 doubles team of Fierer/Ashcom was especially sharp.

There was a quick turnaround on the next match due to some concerns on the weather and forfeiture rules.  The Bears traveled the very next day Thursday, April 24th to Flowery Branch.  The team again prevailed 3-0 with all 5 lines playing strong matches.

Next up for the Bears is a pivotal match in the Quarterfinals against in-region opponent, the Pope Greyhounds.  Both teams know each other very well.  Last year Cambridge and Pope split matches and this year Pope has taken both matches played.

The Bears hope to gain revenge next Tuesday, April 29th (weather permitting) at Pope and qualify for the Semis the following week.  Should Cambridge win out, the State Finals are the week of May 10th in Clayton, Ga.

Congratulations & Play on Bears!
