Men's Tennis Closes out Region Schedule with 3 Wins, Then Defeat Alpharetta on Senior Day

Men's Cambridge tennis team closed out the region schedule with wins against North Springs (3-2), Sprayberry (4-1), and Forsyth central (5-0) to earn #3 seed in the region playoff in April.

Against North Springs on Tuesday, March 18th, Cambridge got wins from both doubles lines of Fierer/Ashcom and Fitzgerald/Lapid and Hirschler at 2 singles.

Against Sprayberry on Thursday, March 20th, singles lines Fierer, Ashcom, & Harrell all won along with both doubles lines Fitzgerald/Lapid and Hollingsworth/Armstrong.

Finally on Friday March 21st, the Bears dominated all five lines against Forsyth Central with Singles wins from Fierer, Ashcom, Hirschler and Fitzgerald/Mohseni, and Hollingsworth/Armstrong.  The Bears only lost 1 game in the entire match.

On Monday, March 24th, the Cambridge Men's Tennis team avenged last year's loss to the Raiders from Alpharetta with a 3-2 win in front of the largest home crowd yet on Senior Day.

Drew Freuhauf and Carson Harrell played tough but lost to very skilled opponents at 1 & 2 singles.  Zac Hirschler won at 3 singles with solid ground strokes.

Both doubles teams delivered wins in dramatic fashion.  At 1 dubs, Michael Fierer and David Ashcom lost the first set, battled back to take control of the second set and then dominated  the 3rd set for another big win.

At 2 dubs, Kez Fitzgerald and Brenner Lapid split sets.  The third set was close but Fitzgerald overcame an early double fault to close out the match on a strong service game.

Grant Hollingsworth and Kaivon Mohseni won their doubles match, putting the exclamation point on the Bear's victory.

On Senior Day it was fitting for Kaivon Mohseni and Michael Fierer to win as the first seniors in the men's program.

Next up for the Bear's is the Buckhead Rotary Tournament where Cambridge will face tough competition from in state and out of state.  This will set the plate for the Region Playoffs starting on April 15th.

Go Bears!
