Cambridge Hoops Season is Finally Here!

Cambridge Hoops Season is Finally Here!

The Cambridge varsity basketball season tips off at 6:00 p.m., Friday, November 14, as both teams face Johnson-Gainesville.

Varsity Coach Lesley Broadwell begins her third season with the Lady Bears, along with her assistant, Pam Masinko.

Broadwell says she and the team are really excited to move into the early portion of our schedule.  "We will use this time to grow together before region play begins in December.  We certainly are not looking for or expecting perfection at this stage, but we hope to learn strengths as well as identify areas for improvement. I am so proud of how hard all the girls worked this summer, not only on the physical side with skills but on really growing our culture with spirit and commitment."

"We will look to our senior, Ali LoPiccolo to lead us, but she certainly will not do that alone.  Juniors Hailey Boutelle and Sabrina Powell, as well as second year varsity players sophomores Abigail Halbert, Myia Pretty, Caleigh Aiken, and Mumbi Thumbi all will be counted on to build upon what we have started," says Broadwell. "We have added 4 talented newcomers to the team as well including sophomore Anna Lundstrom, and freshmen Raegan Dunwoodie, Caroline Harris, and Sierra Sieracki.  Each girl on our team will be counted on to perform a role that contributes to the process.

I am also really excited about our Junior Varsity team and expect them to continue solidifying the growth of our program.  Jasi Lampkin, Alyssa Kirchmeyer, Abi Hall, Lauren Bromelow, Julia Estes, Shura McCartin, Ruby Pham, Haley DeSandre, Morgan Maiorino, and Monica Dutcher will all be counted on when the JV begins play after Thanksgiving break, and we are expecting a lot out of this group."

Varsity Boys Coch Chip Flemmer is equally excited to embark on year three.  Flemmer says the team is senior heavy, and all of the guys have been in the program since day one. "It's great to have solid leadership this year.  That is going to really help us!  I am really looking forward to the season.  We have put in a lot of hard work, and it will be fun to get this season rolling," says Coach Flemmer.

The team is led by seniors Emerson McClung and Jordan Sloter.  Flemmer says Nithin Balaji, Neill Christian, and Brawley Thomas should also play a huge role this season. "Kayode Adebisi and Danny Frontman will be a big part of our rotation and bring great work ethic and seem to make things happen whenever they are on the court."

Remember to make plans to be in the Cambridge gym, beginning at 6:00 p.m., Friday, November 14, as both teams do battle against Johnson-Gainesville.  You won't want to miss these exciting teams this season.

Go Bears!!
