Cambridge Varsity Football Opens 2015 Season with Holy Innocents, Saturday, August 22nd

On Saturday 8/22/15, our Region 7-AAAAA Cambridge Bears will take on the Region 6-AA Holy Innocents Golden Bears at the Riverwood H.S. stadium.  The game start time is 7:30 PM.  Now that the preseason scrimmages are over, it's time to get down to business in games that count.

Our Bears are coming off of a 7-3 winning season last year and expect to build on that success.  Offensively, Cambridge will be led by quarterback Cameron Moore, running back Kaelin Byrd and senior wide receivers Nathan Kish, JD White, Kyle McDougall and Scott Gustafson with sophomore Spencer Gaddis seeing valuable time as well.

Up front, the offensive line will be led by tackle Branch Morley, center Logan Stanley, guard Matt Burr and guard Ben Padezanin.  Look for sophomore newcomer Walker Peed to contribute at tackle.

On defense, our Bears have 9 returning starters, most of which are seniors.  We can expect linebackers Trey Wolfe, Devin Kane, Eric Cizek and Michael Pellegrino to lead the charge along with junior Will Britain.  A lot is expected of Chase Darnell and Jake Michels at defensive end.

The Padezanin brothers, Ben and Noah, will hold down the nose guard slot. Look for a speedy secondary with J.J. White and Alec Kramer at cornerback and Nathan Kish at safety.

The Holy Innocents Golden Bears are coming off a 2-8 season last year and missed the postseason after seven consecutive appearances.  They are expected to be an improved squad this year.

Come out and cheer our Cambridge Bears to victory.  Let's get off to a great start.

Go Bears!
