Cambridge Varsity Football Loses Tough Battle to Rome, Friday, Sept. 11th

Bear fans, on Friday night 9/11/15 at Bear stadium, our Region 7B-AAAAA Bears went to battle against the Region 7A-AAAAA Rome Wolves in non-league play.

The Bears dropped their first game of the season by a 21-14 score and now stand with a 2-1 record on the season.  The Wolves improved to 2-1 on the season with the win having avenged last season's defeat to the Bears on their home field.  The Wolves shut out the Bears in the second half and held Cambridge to no first downs that turned out to be the difference in the game.

Our Bears had a scoring drive of 99 yards capped off by a Kaelin Byrd burst into the end zone and a touchdown reception by sophomore receiver Spencer Gaddis. Both PAT attempts were successful by Victor Valentine. Freshmen Ridge Polk also had a 57 yard reception in the game.

On defense, the Bears had big performances by Trey Wolfe and Alec Kramer with 9 and 6 solo tackles respectively. Seniors Eric Cizek and Jake Michels each contributed a sack.

The Bears have an open week and will not play Friday 9/18/15.

Up next for the Bears will be the Kell Longhorns in the first conference home game of the season at Bear stadium Friday 9/25/15.  The Longhorns have a 2-1 record going into Friday's 9/18/15 away conference game against Forsyth Central.   A preview of the Bear's matchup with Kell will be posted after the Longhorn's Friday night contest.

Go Bears!
