Lady Bears Varsity Volleyball Defeats Alpharetta and West Forsyth

Bears pick up a pair of wins at home

The Bears won a pair of matches against Alpharetta and West Forsyth on Thursday, Sept. 10th, bringing their season record to 14-4.

In a tight match-up the Bears fell to Alpharetta in the opening set, 20-25. "It was a rough start, we were a little shaky and nervous in the first set." Senior captain Alex Wright mentioned when asked about their match, "It's frustrating when we play scared because we are a lot better than that. We picked it up in the next two sets and I'm really proud of how we played together and pulled through with a win."

Following the loss in the first set, the team recovered to come back and win the second game 25-21 and the third 25-20. Coach Johnson said she was impressed with how well her players rallied together and stayed positive to get the win they needed. 

In the second match of the night for the Bears, Cambridge dominated from start to finish beating West Forsyth in straight sets. They won the first set 25-12 and the second 25-22.

The Bears were led by junior Olivia Hansen who collected her third double-double of the season against West Forsyth with 13 assists and 15 digs. Ellah Klinnert led the team in kills for the night with 22 and Sterling Hines collected 12 kills and 31 digs. Sophomore Anna Youngs produced 21 digs from her libero position.

The Bears return to action Tuesday, September 15 at 5:30 and 7:30, as they host Kell and Forsyth Central in region matches. The matches are also the final regular season home matches for the Bears and Senior Night.
