Cambridge Volleyball Finishes Region Play with 6-0 Record; Next up-Region Tourney

The Lady Bears Volleyball team (24-8) completed regular season region play last night, Wed. October 1st, with 2-0 wins over North Springs and Forsyth Central.

The Bears will now head to the region tournament as the No. 1 seed in the South and take on the winner of the match between the fourth and fifth seeds.

In the North Springs match (25-9, 25-11), the Bears were led by Anna Youngs who drove home 7 kills and dug up 6 balls to lead the team. Sterling Hines was second on the team in kills with 6, while Eileen Hardy and Alex Wright added 6 digs, and Regan Swift had a pair of blocks. Sophomore Olivia Hansen and Freshman Shelby Luxton both had a big night, sharing 17 assists.

The Bears jumped out to a quick lead in the first set against Forsyth Central and road that momentum to a 25-5 win. In the second set it was a back-and-forth contest for most of the match but the Bears took over and won 25-19.

The Bears will return to the court Thursday, October 2nd, as they travel to South Forsyth for Senior Night.
