Lady Bears Volleyball Sweep Aloha Bash Tournament

The Cambridge varsity volleyball team swept the Aloha Bash competition this past weekend, August 23rd, winning all four matches against a roster of seasoned teams.

The Bears closed out the day by taking down host Brookwood High School's state-ranked team, winning in three sets. Cambridge went into the Aloha Bash with a 4-4 record. 

The newest additions to the team – Freshmen Sterling Hines, Anna Youngs and Shelby Luxton – proved their mettle with game-changing kill shots, critical assists and major defensive plays. On the front line, hitter and all-around contributor Sterling Hines brought power to the front line posting an impressive 21 kills and led the defense with 34 digs.  Sophomore Lauren Swift, also with 21 kill shots, led in service aces with 8 total. Outside hitter Anna Youngs made huge plays on the front row, driving 14 kills and 3 serve aces, and shutting down opponents with solid defensive plays including 28 digs.  Sophomore Regan Swift's 17 kills helped carry the Bears to victory over a hard-fought 3-set match against Brookwood.

Freshman Shelby Luxton and Sophomore Olivia Hansen both posted double-digit assists from the setter position (44 and 39 respectively). Junior Alex Wright posted double digits in both kills and digs, along with 4 key aces delivering critical offensive points.

The Lady Bears will be back in action at home on Tuesday night, August 26, hosting South Forsyth at 5p and Shiloh at 7p.
