Lady Bears Volleyball Falls to Kell, North Springs in 3-Set Matches

The Cambridge Lady Bears forced 3-set matches against opponents Kell (25-21, 13-25, 19-25) and North Springs (25-23, 16-25, 17-25) before falling to both teams on Tuesday night, September 24th.

A strong defensive effort helped keep Kell's offensive hitters in check, with the Lady Bears earning the most combined digs (across 3 sets) this season. Sophomore Eileen Hardy and Freshman Lauren Swift came up with 17 digs each, while Sophomore Alex Wright is credited with 16 digs and Frosh Regan Swift with 11 digs. Offensively, the Bears Freshman Hitters kept the Kell team on its toes and helped push the match into three sets. Lauren Swift earned 12 kills over the series and Regan Swift is credited with 9 kills. Senior Annie Jackson, Alex Wright and Lauren Swift each had 2 serve aces. Freshman Setter Olivia Hansen, consistent throughout the season, had 33 assists and 6 digs against Kell.

After taking the first set against North Springs, the Lady Bears weren't able to capitalize on offensive opportunities needed for the win. Key offensive highlights came from Lauren Swift and Alex Wright, with 12 kills and 8 kills, respectively. The Bears defense Tuesday night was a team effort with 7 players credited with digs. Sophomore Paige Clark, Olivia Hansen and Eileen Hardy each contributed 6 digs, while Alex Wright was credited with 5 digs and Junior Kiley Dempsey with 4 digs. Junior Lexi Paganelli and Lauren Swift each had 2 blocks for the match.

The Bears play their last home matches on Thursday night Sept. 26th against Roswell and Forsyth Central, when the Bears will recognize Senior Annie Jackson during the traditional senior night ceremony.

In addition, the Cambridge volleyball family will Dig Pink as they help raise awareness and funds to help battle breast cancer.  All fans are encouraged to wear pink to the matches.
