Lady Bears Volleyball Hosts Dig Pink Event, Thursday, Sept 26th

The Cambridge Volleyball team will be holding its first Dig Pink event on Thursday, September 26 as they take on Forsyth Central and Roswell High School.

Thursday's Dig Pink event will benefit the Side-Out Foundation. Dig Pink is the name of the Breast Cancer awareness rally that takes place in gyms all over the country during Breast Cancer awareness month (October). High school and college volleyball teams from all over the nation will be participating during the months of September and October to help raise awareness. The goal for this initiative is to raise funds to go towards research and "living with cancer" organizations.

The Bears will be tossing Dig Pink volleyballs to the crowd at the match and getting student participation in a "Shirt Serve" competition, with all proceeds going towards the battle against breast cancer.

The volleyball team encourages all fans to wear pink to the matches on Thursday, and will also be giving a small tribute in honor of those who have survived or are battling cancer.

"Volleyball programs from across the US have joined onto this campaign more now than I have ever seen," said head coach Katie Johnson. "We are doing something for a greater cause and I think it helps our team to recognize that there are bigger things in life than just volleyball."

There will be a donation table at the gym entrance with more information related to the battle against breast cancer. You can find out more about The Side-Out Foundation and how you can contribute to the fight against breast cancer at https://www.side-out.org/cb/campaigns/campaign/7549.

Also, following the 5 p.m. match against Forsyth Central, we will be honoring our senior Annie Jackson.

Come out and support the cause and your Lady Bears!
