Lady Bears Volleyball Bests North Forsyth

Coming off of a spectacular sweep over the weekend, the Lady Bears traveled North on Tuesday night August 27th to square off against North Forsyth and Rockdale County High Schools.

Fueled by a powerful defense, the Bears took both sets against North Forsyth, winning handily 25-17, 25-14. Sophomore Alex Wright scooped up 12 digs in the series, along with teammates Paige Clark and Freshman Olivia Hansen, both with 6 digs.  The Bears offense spread the love, with the front line rocketing off a series of kills that sent the opponent scrambling. Alex Wright, Lexi Paganelli, Lauren Swift, and Olivia Hansen all had 3 kills each while Regan Swift is credited with 6 kills.

The Bears faced a determined Rockdale County team that pushed the score to 28-26 before the Bears could claim victory in the first game. In game two, the Bears came up short 25-20, sending the match into a third set tiebreaker.  Playing to 25 points instead of the traditional 15, the Bears fell 25-20. Across the series, the Bears showed their defensive force with Alex Wright scoring 16 digs, along with Lauren Swift with 12 digs, and Maddie Ulman and Eileen Hardy both with 7 digs.  The Freshmen propelled the offense, helping the Bears drive the score with unanswered shots from the front line. Lauren Swift recorded 11 kills, Regan Swift saw 7 kills and Olivia Hansen, who was key on offense and defense, tipped off 5 kills, 7 service aces, 8 digs and is credited with 20 assists.

The Bears have 8 match wins for the season. The Bears face Chattahoochee HS and St. Pius at Chattahoochee Thursday August 29th, beginning at 6pm.
