Milton, Georgia – The Cambridge Lady Bears won 6-0 in a non-region game, against the Parkview Panthers, on Thursday, March 4, 2021.

During the first half of the game, the Bears Defense played exceptionally.  Junior, Ella Crawley and Seniors Safiya Said and Maggie Smith denied all attempts to get to Olivia Barfield while the offense got to work.  Fifteen minutes into the first half, Ella Ciardullo made a chip pass to Sophomore Jordynn Dudley who worked her way around the defense, pulling the goalie to the right side of the net, and made a low shot into the left side putting the Lady Bears on the board.  Less than 5 minutes later, Junior Kate Leibel would make a beautiful long pass from the midfield to Jordynn Dudley who perfectly executed the same shot as the first, putting the Bears up 2-0.

The starting line of the Lady Bears continued to play fast and find each other, connecting accurate passes around the Panthers' defense.  Halfway through the first half, Jordynn Dudley made a fast run with the ball up the sideline.  Finding herself well defended, she made a quick pass to Ella Ciardullo in front of the net who quickly hit the ball for a score.  Jordynn would get her second assist just five minutes later when Junior Katelyn Byrne made a well-placed free kick at her feet.  Jordynn spun away from the Panthers' Defender while keeping the ball, made a quick pass to Junior Kate Leibel who knocked the ball decisively into the back of the net putting the Bears up 4-0.

The Bears were awarded several corner kicks throughout the first half, but the Panthers would defend them well and the Lady Bears were unable to capitalize.  Toward the end of the first half, the Panthers fouled Jordynn Dudley which resulted in a free kick for the Bears.  Ella Ciardullo took the shot which was saved by the Panthers Goalie.

The last 2 minutes of the first half delivered some exciting play.  Katelyn Byrne would take an excellent free kick that almost went in the net but shifted just left, it was saved and resulted in a Bears corner kick.  Freshman Natalie Leibel executed a perfect shot that nearly bent its way into the goal.  Jordynn Dudley would make a second effort shot that went over the net.  With just seconds left on the clock, Senior Safiya Said made quick defensive work to save a goal attempt by the Panthers.  The Lady Bears finished the first half with a score of 4-0.

The Lady Bears started the second half with the same intensity as they finished the first.  With just 10 minutes gone on the clock, Ella Crawley played a hard ball from her defensive position to Kate Leibel in the midfield.  Leibel would work her way through a defender and make a hard shot to the back of the net making the score 5-0.  Just two minutes later Ella Ciardullo made a strong shot which was blocked off the Panthers Goalie's fingers and flew back into play, Ciardullo would head the ball out of the air and into the net for an unassisted goal.

The Panthers would attempt to get on the board just 2 minutes later but were denied by Senior Goalie Abby Fields with a beautiful save.  Later in the half, Junior McCall Bennett, played tough offense against two Panthers defenders.  Bennett would go down to the ground fighting for the ball, with the two players on her, and still come up keeping the ball when she was able to get up.  The Panthers player threw her arms up looking for the foul that would not come.  It was a clean, tough play from the Junior Forward.

The Panthers would make one more attempt to block our shutout, with around 5 minutes left in the game but Senior Abby Fields would make a diving save.  The ball came loose and Senior Kyndall Jenkins cleared it away from the goal.  The Lady Bears finished strong with a score of 6-0.

The Lady Bears will head to John's Creek High School for a Region game on Tuesday, March 9th at 6:00 pm.
