Cambridge Wrestler Gavin Kane Wins Doc B National Tournament

Senior wrestler, Gavin Kane, traveled to Clovis California to capture the top spot in the 170-weight class at the 2020 Doc Buchanan (Doc B) Wrestling Tournament.  The Doc B is one of the toughest in season high school wrestling tournaments in the nation with wrestlers competing from over 100 high schools in the United States.

During the 2-day event, Kane won five matches as he worked though his bracket defeating Trent Bossert (Las Lomas, CA) 11-1, Nathan Fitzpatrick (Monarch, CO) by Fall, Hayden Walters (Crescent Valley, OR) with an 11-0 Major Decision in the quarterfinal round and Rocco Contino (Buchanan HS) with a pin at 1:42 in semifinal round.

For the final match of the tournament the lights were turned down in the arena while spectators from all over the nation watched in silence as Gavin Kane wrestled the only Clovis High School wrestler in the finals, Giano Petrucelli.  Petrucelli, a 3X California State placer and ranked #1 in California at 170 pounds is a United States Air Force Academy commit wrestled hard but fell to Kane in a 4-1 Decision.

Kane will be competing at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill after high school.  Kane was recognized this Fall as the #1 rated Senior Wrestler prospect in the State by Georgia Grappler.   FloWrestling, often viewed as the authority on all levels of wrestling rankings, has Kane as a top five 170-pound wrestler all classes nationally, and the #38 best prospect all weights on the prestigious High School Big Board class of 2020.  Kane has had numerous All-American performances and is a (3X) GHSA state champion who will be seeking to become one of Georgia's select few four-timers this season.
