Cambridge Wrestling Wins Big in Maryland, Dec. 27-28th

The Cambridge Wrestling Bears traveled to Damascus, Maryland to attend the Damascus High School 29th annual Damascus Holiday Wrestling Tournament on December 27 and 28.  Fifteen teams from four states participated in the 2-day tournament.  The first day and a half the Varsity Bears wrestled 6 teams from Maryland and Virginia and qualified 7 wrestlers to move on to individuals in the afternoon and evening of December 28.

All 7 Bear qualifiers received medals for their performance: Cullen Kane, 3rd @113, Kyle Romano, 1st @145, Nicholas Barton, 2nd @152, Evan Kurtz, 2nd @170, Gavin Kane 1st @182, Mike Hudson, 3rd @195, and Connor McHugh, 2nd @220.  Gavin Kane was voted Heavyweight Most Outstanding Wrestler.  With this collective performance Cambridge was able to win the entire tournament!  This included beating host Damascus who is the reigning Maryland 2A state champ.

While the Varsity Bears were dominating one gym, the JV Bears were doing their own damage in another with 3 JV Bears, Miki Baran, Cole Buschi and Michael Carranza going undefeated!

The Wrestling Bears are headed into state qualification season and are ranked at #3 (6A) by Georgia Grappler and currently have 11 wrestlers ranked in the top 10 of their weight class. You can watch the Bears in action on January 3 & 4 at the Fulton County Championships hosted by Milton High School.  If you can't attend in person you can watch via Facebook Live streaming via the team's Facebook page.
