Cambridge Wrestling Sends Eight Bears to GHSA State Tournament

The Cambridge High School Varsity Wrestling team qualified 8 wrestlers for the GHSA Class 5 Sectional tournament at Lanier High School this past weekend and finished the meet with all 8 Bears advancing to the GHSA State Tournament.

Three wrestlers challenged for the top spot in their weight classes.

Junior Will Britain finished 1st in the 152lb weight class, while senior Brandon Filosi and junior Luke Williams wrapped up 2nd at 138lbs and 170lbs respectively.

Seniors Eric Cizek, 195lbs and Trey Wolfe, 220lbs each won hard fought battles to bring home 3rd place in their weight classes.

Sophomore Zach Corcoran finished 5th in a very competitive 120lb weight class, while seniors Nathan Kurtz, 145lbs and Chris Anderson, 126lbs finished 8th to advance.

The team wrestlers will compete in the GHSA State Traditional Championships at the Gwinnett Center beginning Thursday, February 11th through Saturday February 13th.
