Lady Bears Varsity Lacrosse Team Ends Inaugural Year with 16-2 Record

The Cambridge Lady Bears Varsity Lacrosse Team fell in the first round of state playoffs to Starr's Mill of Fayetteville Wednesday night May 8th, losing by a score of 12-11 in a closely played game.  This capped off a highly successful season for the inaugural girls lacrosse team that ended the season with 16 wins and 2 losses.

With the motto "Team One-One Team," the Lady Bears far exceeded expectations in their first season with a roster consisting of 11 freshmen, 7 sophomores and 1 junior.

"I'm just so proud of the way the girls pulled together as a team," says Pam Masinko, Coach of the Lady Bears.  "They played their hearts out.  While it was disappointing to lose such a close game, the girls played really well, and they can be proud of what they achieved during their very first season."

During the regular season, the Lady Bears defeated Wheeler, Riverwood, Girls Prep School Chattanooga, Norcross, Forsyth Central, North Springs, South Forsyth, Blessed Trinity, Gainesville, North Gwinnett, North Forsyth, Lambert, Wesleyan School, Greater Atlanta Christian, Sprayberry and Marist.  Their only regular season defeat came at the hands of Northview High School in a 12-5 loss over a much older and more experienced team.  Their regular season play propelled them to the state playoffs, which began and ended for the Lady Bears in their close loss to Starr's Mill on May 8th.

"We have no seniors on the 2013 team," says Masinko.  "With all of our returning players next year plus some outstanding talent coming up from 8th grade, I think our future is bright," says Masinko.

Congratulations to the Lady Bears for a great season!
