Parent Information & BearLax Booster Club

Parent Information & BearLax Booster Club

Parents,

I hope all the girls have had a great first couple of days at school. By now I am sure everyone has had the chance to check out the beautiful facilities at Cambridge, the stadium is out of this world!

Many of you have asked me about my preference of club programs and I want to make it clear that I support many different programs and feel very strongly that it is a family decision on where their child should play. I feel every program has many advantages and disadvantages and depending on your daughter's goals and ambitions some club programs may be more suited for her than others.  I have listed many of the programs available with their websites for you all to look at.  I do strongly encourage everyone to at least have a stick in their hands as much as possible.

Fall Workouts
I plan on meeting with the girls sometime next week before school to go over my expectations, fall workouts, and logistics for tryouts in January.

As a team, we will be doing weights and agility training after school two days a week starting sometime early September. For those involved with another school sport, they will not be able to participate in this. I am an advocate of playing multiple sports so please assure your daughter it is ok.  All GHSA medical forms will need to be fully completed to participate in any workout.

Fall Tournaments
Per GHSA rules, I can not coach lacrosse between August 1 and the start of our season. There are tournaments that we can participate in this fall and winter as a team if there is enough interest.  Mark Smith will be the contact person for any of the Cambridge fall lacrosse activities. I am also looking into the availability to have some open field time for the girls to practice as a team.

Volunteer Opportunities
As with any program, parent involvement is crucial to its success. The Cambridge Athletic Association (CAA) is an umbrella booster club for Cambridge High School, which will assist all programs and take care of many tasks and expenses that are shared and associated with all sports.  With the CAA, I will have a lacrosse parent meeting before the start of the season explaining how that will all work in further detail.  However, the girls lacrosse program will also have our own booster club, BearLax.  Enclosed is a Parent Volunteer Form.  Please get it back to me if you are interested in volunteering.

Fundraising
Although the school is absolutely beautiful and it is priceless to be part of the first team ever at Cambridge, we are starting a program with a zero balance and will incur many start up expenses.  We need to fundraise. I am open to all suggestions.  I would like to do something before the start of our season, before things get extremely hectic.

I do want to thank all of you for your support thus far.  The positive climate and unyielding enthusiasm are very appreciated.

Go Lady Bears,
Coach Masinko
