Email: BroadwellL@fultonschools.org

Lesley Broadwell will lead the Varsity Girls' Basketball Program and also serve as Athletic Director. Broadwell is coming from Roswell High School where she has been the head basketball coach for the past four years.

The highly successful Broadwell brings with her two Region 6AAAAA championships, a finish in the Elite 8 State Playoffs, and four consecutive state playoff appearances. When Broadwell, an Alpharetta native, took over her first year as head coach in 2008 at Roswell, she captained her team to a region championship, the first girls' title in 30 years for the school and the first state playoff appearance in 20 years. The regional win over arch-rival Milton occurred before an electifying crowd and saw Roswell overcome an 11 point deficit with four minutes left in the game to earn a 2 point over time victory. Also that first season, the team set a school record for average points per game at 57.

Broadwell's second year as head coach saw her team make a second state playoff appearance and a 3rd place finish in the region. The team lost in the state playoffs to the eventual champion, Norcross, by eight points, the closest margin of victory in the state tournament for the Norcross team. Her 2011 team brought home a second region 6AAAAA championship in another game that went down to the wire, taking down number one seed, Alpharetta, with 0.5 seconds on the clock as a free throw won the game for the Lady Hornets. The Hornets advanced in the state tournament to the Elite 8, narrowly missing a berth in the Final Four with a three point overtime loss. Finally, Broadwell's 2011-2012 season saw her lead a team with one returning full-time varsity player to a third place Region 6AAAAA finish and qualify for the state playoffs again.

Broadwell has won numerous awards, including two Region 6AAAAA Coach of the Year awards from the Georgia Athletic Coaches' Association (GACA). She has also been recognized by the North Fulton Neighbor twice as Coach of the Year and once by the Roswell Beacon newspaper. She has served on the GACA's All-State and All-Star game selection committees. Coach Broadwell has has coached two 1000 point scorers in four seasons with a third rising junior only 54 points shy of the mark heading into her 2012 season. She has had a number of players receive college scholarship offers, including 2012 Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year, Shanteona Keys.

A Milton High School graduate, Broadwell was a member of three state-ranked basketball teams. She was invited to walk-on at Presbyterian College before ultimately landing at the University of Georgia where she earned a B.A. in Journalism and M.Ed in Learning Disabilities. She will teach Math and Study Skills and will also serve as Co-Department Chair of the Special Education department. Coach Broadwell is extremely excited about the opportunity to build a winning program at Cambridge High School.
