The Cambridge Lady Bears will be on the road Wednesday, January 8, to take on the North Springs with tip off at 6:00 p.m. The team beat the Spartans twice last season and will battle for what it hopes will be its first region victory of this season.
During the holiday break, the Lady Bears fought hard in the Lumpkin County tournament and had a good win over Wayne County, 61-49, after falling to Lumpkin County and Locust Grove in the first two games of the tournament.
The team also had tough games last weekend. One of the most exciting games to watch came Friday, January 3, when the Lady Bears played against Johnson-Gainesville. The girls were down 20-17 at half time but started the 3rd quarter on a 9-0 run and fought hard, outscoring the Knights, 31-2, and they wrapped up the 3rd quarter with a score of 54-29. The Lady Bears went on to secure the victory by a final of 58-37.
The second game of the weekend was against Lakeside-DeKalb, a team the Bears lost to in overtime last season but came back to claim a victory in a second match up later in the season. As expected, it was another close contest, and at the end of the 3rd quarter, the Lady Bears were down 42-29. With 4:42 left in the game, the score was 50-38 in favor of the Vikings, but the Bears went on a 10-0 run to pull within 2 points with 1:02 left in the game, making the score 50-48. The girls lost this tough game 56-50.
The Lady Bears take to the court Wednesday at 6:00 p.m., following the girls' junior varsity team at 4:30 p.m. The boys' varsity game begins at 7:30 p.m. All games are at North Springs which is located at 7447 Roswell Road, Sandy Springs, GA, 30328.

All freshman, junior varsity and varsity games had been scheduled for Tuesday, January 7, but Fulton County closings caused postponements. The junior varsity boys will play Thursday, January 9 at North Springs at 4:30 p.m., followed by the freshman boys at 6:00 p.m.
