CAMBRIDGE BEARS ARE ON THE WAY TO STATE! THREE SCHOOL RECORDS SET

On Monday, May 6, the GHSA track and field Sectional A was held in Decatur, Georgia. This was the final step for the athletes to advance to the state championships in Carrollton from May 9-11. The veterans were well aware of what needed to be done and the newcomers were excited to display their best efforts. At the end of the day, a number of the athletes advanced to the state championships and three school records were set.

The athletes that advanced to state were the following:

Lilah Versluis - winning the high jump and also advancing in the long jump (personal record and the second female in school history to jump 18' plus) and the triple jump (where she is the defending state champion).

Sanam Rangaraj - continuing her strong season by winning the 3200 meters and finishing second in the 1600 meters.

Ibrahim Bangura - finishing second in the 300 meter hurdles and also advancing in the 110 meter hurdles (he was on the state podium for both events last season).

Preston Clemmer - running a strong 400 meters in a school record time (he also holds the 200 meter school record time).

Seth Odom - running a solid 800 meters (currently one of the fastest 800 meter runners in the state and looking to make a big impact).

Also advancing were the girls 4x200 meter relay team in a school record time; the boys 4x200 meter relay team in a school record time; and the boys 4x400 meter relay team.
