On Wednesday, April 10, the Cambridge track and field team held a three team meet to recognize and thank the seniors on the team. The meet was cut short because of inclement weather. However, a number of noteworthy top three finishes took place in the events contested.
Among the highlights:
Kai McCarley won the 100 meters
Lilah Versluis won the 100 meters hurdles and the long jump
Eleanor Reeves won the shot put
Christiaan Isibor won the 100 meters
Christian Frasier won the long jump.
Hannah Jones finished second in the 100 meters
Meili Bouton finished second in the 1600 meters
Taylor Lasoff leaped to a second place finish in the long jump
Thomas Egan finished second in the discus
Gabriel Chigwere finished third in the shot put.
On Saturday, April 13, the team headed to compete in the McEachern invitational (McEachern High School). A number of strong performances were achieve against 41 other teams.
Sanam Rangaraj won the 3200 meters (just short of the region and 5A classification lead)
Ibrahim Bangura finished a strong fourth in the 110 meter hurdles
Grayson Peterson finished sixth in the 1600 meters
Grey Donner finished eighth in the 3200 meters
Seth Odom finished fourth in the 800 meters and set the school record in the process. His time also is the leading time in the region.
The team now prepares to defend their dual region titles at the region meet next Tuesday and Wednesday (April 23 and 24) at Greater Atlanta Christian as the journey to state continues.
