First Meet of Track and Field Season!
CAMBRIDGE BEARS BEGIN JOURNEY TO STATE

On Saturday, February 24, the Cambridge bears track and field team opened the regular season at the Roswell Swarm meet (Roswell High School). The team has been training and tuned up with an intra squad meet on February 14 that introduced some of the newcomers to the competitive world of track and field and the various disciplines.

In Roswell, the team was facing 11 other teams and the athletes were able to secure some impressive medal-worthy performances during the day as the first steps were taken to achieve the goal of making it to state and doing well while there.

Some of the noteworthy achievements on Saturday were: Lilah Versluis winning the triple jump and high jump (with the current state leading mark): Sanam Rangaraj placing fourth in both the 800 meter and 1600 meter runs: Seth Odom placing second in the 800 meter run; Grayson Peterson finishing third in the 800 meter run and fifth in the 1600 meter run; Rohan Lidhar leaping to a fourth place finish in the triple jump; Ibrahim Bangura racing to a second place finish in the 110 meter hurdles; and Tyler Blalock finishing third in the rarely run 60 meter outdoor dash (establishing a new school record, along with Sarina Bivek doing the same for the girls).

The relay teams also were noteworthy with the girl's 4x1600 meters; the boy's 4x1600 meter relay; the girl's 4x800 meter relay; the girl's 4x100 meter relay; the boy's 4x100 meter relay; and the boy's 4x200 meter relay all finishing in the top four.

The team travels this weekend to the Milton Showcase (Milton High School) to take on 24 other teams as the journey continues.
