Cambridge Track & Field Team Starts 2023 Season with Three School Records

CAMBRIDGE TRACK & FIELD TEAM COMES ROARING OUT THE GATE

On Wednesday night, February 15, the Cambridge track & field team began the 2023 outdoor season with an intrasquad meet featuring the talented returnees and some promising newcomers to the team. Before the evening ended, the team had set three school records and a number of personal records.
 
Some of the highlighted performances for the ladies were Lilah Versluis winning the high jump with a school record leap, which at the time of this writing is the leading mark in the nation among high school girls; Julia Versluis winning the long jump (personal record) and the 300 meter hurdles; Eleanor Reeves winning the discus and the shot put; Olivia Seitz winning the 800 meters; Haven Jones winning the 1600 meters; and newcomer Alexandria (Lexi) Hunt winning the 100 meter dash.
 
As for the boys, Dominick Lawshea had quite a meet as he won the 300 meter hurdles (school record and current state leader) and the 200 meters (school record); Noah Bollenbacher won the pole vault and the 400 meter run (personal record); Alex Shi won the long jump (personal record); Carter Benson won the discus; Ben Ridenour won the 100 meter dash; Ibrahim Bangura won the 110 meter hurdles; Mavric Gould won the 1600 meters; and promising newcomer Seth Odom won the 800 meter run.
 
The team travels to Marietta High School for the distance carnival on Saturday (2/18) and the following Saturday (2/25) goes to Roswell High School for the Roswell Swarm meet.
