Cambridge Track and Field Athletes Compete in Friday Night Lights Meet, Friday, April 1st

LIGHTS SHINE BRIGHT ON TEAM - THREE SCHOOL RECORDS SET

The Cambridge track and field team kicked off spring break by sending a few athletes to compete in the Friday Night Lights meet at Starr's Mill High School on April 1st. It was no joking matter that evening as the Bears set three school records, including one state leading mark.

The highlighted efforts from the meet included: Anna Filipek finishing second in the 3200 meter run; Gabrielle Dandridge finishing fourth in the 200 meter run (personal record); Lilah Versluis leaping to a fifth place finish in the long jump (personal record); Julia Versluis finishing eighth in the pole vault; Kendal Quarles setting a new school record in the 100 meter run; Ethan Krueck tossing the discus for a new school record; and Olivia Bollenbacher earning a fifth place finish in the 300 meter hurdles and leaping to a first place finish in the pole vault that broke her existing school record in the event and is the best vault of the year in the state of Georgia and one of the top ten all-time for a high school female in the state of Georgia.

Earlier in the week, some of the athletes participated in the JV Region Championships at Centennial High School.  The girls won the title for their division and the boys finished fourth in their division.

The medalists from this meet included: Nola Charles taking second in the 100 meter hurdles and winning the triple jump; Eleanor Reeves second in the discus and winning the shot put; Lilah Versluis winning the 300 meter hurdles; Kai McCarley winning the 400 meter run; Meadow Riggins second in the 400 meter run; Ava Hosfield winning the 800 meter run; Lauren Tindle finishing second in the 1600 meter run; Emily Tebeau third in the 1600 meter run; McKenzie Pickerel second in the 3200 meter run; Tomisin Odunuga second in the long jump; Christopher Straw taking second in the discus; Mason Guerra winning the 300 meter hurdles; the girls 4x100 meter relay winning third; the girls 4x400 meter relay team taking first; the girls 4x800 meter relay team also taking first; the boys 4x100 meter relay team winning the event; the boys 4x400 meter relay team taking third; and the 4x800 meter relay team finishing second.
