Bears Track and Field - Three School Records Fall at Roswell Rotary Relays, Sat. March 19th
On Saturday, March 19, the Cambridge track & field team went to Roswell High School for the Roswell Rotary Relays against nearly 30 of the traditionally strong teams from across the metro Atlanta landscape that would be the toughest test of the season. The Bears answered the challenge as the girls finished in fourth place and the boys finished sixth in their respective divisions. In addition, three school records were broken and a number of others were just missed.
 
The highlights for the girls were:
Julia Versluis winning the high jump and placing eighth in the pole vault (personal record);
Olivia Bollenbacher (the leading vaulter in the state in 6A) winning the pole vault; and
Lilah Versluis placing sixth in the high jump.
 
Relays:
-4x800 meter relay team (current 6A state leader in the event) placed second;
-4x400 meter relay team (currently the third fastest in 6A in the state) won the event;
-4x200 meter relay team placed seventh (setting a school record);
-4x1600 meter relay team placed fifth; 
-distance medley relay team placed eighth.
 
The highlights for the boys were:
Dominick Lawshea winning the 300 meter hurdles (currently the third fastest in 6A in the state) and placing seventh in the 110 meter hurdles;
Cade Parodi placed fifth in the long jump; and
Kendal Quarles placed eighth in high jump (became only the second male to clear six feet in school history) and just missed setting a school record in the 100 meters.
 
Relays:
-4x1600 meter relay team finished fifth (setting a school record);
-4x800 meter relay team (currently the third fastest in 6A in the state) won the event;
-4x400 meter relay team placed eighth;
-4x200 meter relay team placed fifth (setting a school record).
 
Next up for the team will be the Fulton County championship meet at Roswell High School on Saturday, March 26.
