Cambridge Track and Field Team Starts 2022 Season with a Roar, Wednesday, Feb. 16th

On Wednesday night, February 16, the Cambridge Track & Field team began the season with an intrasquad meet featuring the talented returnees and some promising newcomers to the team. Before the evening ended, the team had set two school records and a number of personal records. 

Some of the highlighted performances for the ladies were Jessica Hernandez winning the 1600 meters (personal record); Julia Versluis winning the high jump to leap to a tie for the top girls high jump mark in the state thus far; Lilah Versluis debuting with a strong performance in the high jump by finishing second; Amelia Martinez won the long jump with strong performance; and Sarah Meredith won the shot put (personal record).

As for the boys, Preston Clemmer set a personal record and school record with an outstanding effort in winning the 200 meters; Carson Kent wiped out a school record by winning the shot put (personal record); Lyle Donovan ran a very strong race in winning the 800 meters; Eric Garguilo won the 110 meter hurdles; Kendal Quarles had a great day by winning the high jump and the 100 meters; Dominick Lawshea matched that by winning the 300 meter hurdles and the triple jump; and Carter Benson began his pursuit of the school record by winning the discus.

The team travels to Centennial High School (Roswell) on Wednesday, Feb. 23rd and returns home for the "Wake the Bear" track meet on Saturday, Feb. 26th.
