CAMBRIDGE TRACK & FIELD OPENS SEASON WITH A FEW "SHINING MOMENTS"

On Saturday, February 20, the Cambridge Track & Field team ventured to Roswell High School for the "Swarm at the Nest" track meet.  Facing nine other teams (two region foes and one from within the classification) the meet produced eight state-leading marks and times. The Cambridge squad managed to produce a number of "shining moments."

First, the girls 4x800 meter relay of Jessica Hernandez/Lola Merrill/Emily Meeker/Faith Hirschi won the event and now likely own the second best time in the state.

Julia Versluis started her quiet pursuit of the six-year-old high jump school record by leaping 4'10" (a personal record) and claimed 2nd place in the event.

Jessica Sheinkopf finished 5th in the long jump.

Sarah Meredith finished 5th in the 100 meter hurdles, 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles and 5th in the discus.

A huge highlight of the day was a hard-earned school record in the pole vault by Olivia Bollenbacher of 12'0" and now has one of the top three marks in the state.

Jessica Hernandez finished 6th in a nice 1600 meter run.

The 4x1600 meter relay team finished 5th. Rounding out the day for the ladies, the 4x400 meter relay team of Olivia Bollenbacher/Nia Walker/Gabrielle Dandridge/Faith Hirschi raced to a 4th place finish.

Next, the boys had a few "shining moments" as well.  The 4x200 meter relay team (Ben Ridenour, Preston Clemmer, Jack Quisito and Davis Bartels) raced to a 4th place finish and a school record performance.

Kaine Dudley finished 3rd in the long jump (with a personal record); 5th in the 400 meters (with a personal record) and 5th in the 800 meters.

Kendal Quarles finished 7th in the 100 meters and 6th in the 200 meters (with a personal record).

Lyle Donovan had a gutsy run in the 1600 and finished 5th (with a personal record).

Jaeden Edwards leaped to a 5th place finish in the 110 meter hurdles.

Caelan Jones raced to an impressive 3rd place finish in the 300 meter hurdles.

Lastly, the 4x400 meter relay team of Kaine Dudley/Davis Bartels/Preston Clemmer/Caelan Jones closed the meet with a surging 2nd place finish.

The season is off and running and more "shining moments" are surely in store for the entire team.
