Bears Take to the Track in Roswell Rotary Relays

31 athletes from the Cambridge Bears men's and women's track and field teams spent a beautiful day outdoors on Saturday, March 16, as they participated alongside 20 other high schools in the 17th annual Roswell Rotary Relays.

The field was ripe with talent from across the region, and both teams competed admirably.  The men's track & field team placed 13th out of 21 teams while the women's team finished 19th out of 21.

Senior Hawk Hammer secured the Bears' only first place finish in the Boys' Pole Vault with an impressive 12-00.00 finish.  Lauren Stewart individually contributed 10 points for the Lady Bears' team ranking with her fourth place finish in the Girls Long Jump (15-09.00) and her fifth place finish in the Girls 100 Meter Dash (12.96).  Ali LoPiccolo also put points on the Lady Bears' board with her 4-08.00 High Jump.

The name of Saturday's event says it all.  Relays were the main event of the day.  For the men's team, Hawk Hammer, JD White, Jalen Swarns, and Bjorn Leicher demonstrated tenacity and agility in the 1600 Sprint Medley.  Leicher, Hammer, and Swarns were joined by Rayvon Moss in the 4x400 Meter Relay.  Moss, White, and Swarns later teamed with Dashun Soto in the 4x100 Meter relay.

Lauren Stewart, Jahvona Pretty, Caroline Gloster, and Lacy Wolter got off to a bang with their 13th place finish in the 4x100 Meter Relay.  Pretty then teamed up with Lily Niebur, Ali LoPiccolo, and Angela Ho in the 4x400 Meter Relay.  Elizabeth Sanders, Isabel Wickliffe, Alyssa Shuey, and Caroline Willis began pushing the balance between speed and endurance in the 4x800 Meter Relay, and Lauren Stewart, Jahvona Pretty, Alyssa Cleveland, and Lily Niebur brought it home with an 11th place finish in the 1600 Meter Sprint Medley.

On the field, Bailey Edmiston and Austin Thistleton placed in the girls' and boys' Discus Throws.  Jesse Ortega competed in the Shot Put, and Caleb Gloster competed in the Long Jump.

Congratulations to the men's and women's track and field teams for their dedication to their respective events during this exciting, all-day affair!

Go Bears!!!
