Cambridge Divers Compete and Team Celebrates its Seniors Over Break

Over the first week of winter break, the Cambridge swim and dive team did not step out of action. The week was full of practice, activity and celebrations.

On Wednesday, December 20th, the team celebrated its seniors with the first Cambridge Senior Relays. The team was divided into the Blue Team and the White Team, with the seniors and juniors on the Blue Team and the freshmen and sophomores on the White Team. The teams competed in a series of relays in addition to traditional relay events. The groups competed against each other in kickboard relays, butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke relays, and co-ed relays. At the end of the day, the seniors took to the water in their own relay and the team joined them in the water to celebrate their dedication, commitment, and time on the team.

Even though halfway through the meet, the Blue and White Teams were within 20 points of each other, at the end of the day, the Blue Team (seniors and juniors) beat out the underclassmen.

Blue Team - 667

White Team - 574

The next day, the Bears hosted the annual Cambridge Dive Invitational at Cumming Aquatic Center. Brooklyn Petit had one of her best meets of the season and won the event for the third year in a row. As a freshman, she won the meet with a score of 228.35, last year she won with a score of 267.45, and this year she won with a phenomenal score of 316.50. Petit outscored the second place diver by almost a full 100-points. Petit is undefeated for the season and now has her sights on championship season and the state meet. She will be joined by her teammates Lilah Versluis and Brandon Norfleet
