Cambridge Falls to Westminster and St. Pius in Tri-Meet

On Tuesday, the Bears traveled to Westminster, a region opponent in next year's reclassification, to face off against the home team and St. Pius. At the end of the evening, the Bears fell short, but there were some outstanding performances and additional state cuts that are worthy of recognition.

In the 200-medley relay, the boys A-relay (John Murphy, Thomas Lenston, Gavin Schoeling, Cale Coleman) took second with a state qualifying time of 1:44.95. The B-relay (Zach Andersen, Elijah Edison, Maor Bigio, Oscar Ryzhkov) took fifth. 

The girls A-relay (Ana-Clare Grann, Alana Drevet, Audrey Lampa, Abby Harber) took fourth place with a state qualifying time of 2:05.72. The B-relay (Alexis Walkenhorst, Christine McVicker, Gabby Edwards, Hayden Whalen) took 11th. 

In the boys 200-free, Yan Berezitsky went a new personal best time of 1:56.92 and took fifth place, Ryan Robertson was right behind with a new personal best time in sixth place, Bryson Mynatt was in ninth, and Raj Malik took 10th. 

In the girls event, Alana Drevet took fifth and Audrey Lampa took eighth. 

In the boys 200-individual medley, Jax Jackson took fourth with a new personal best time of 2:12.41, just off the state qualifying time. Zach Andersen took seventh, Maor Bigio took eighth, and Pranav Kolathaya took ninth with a new best time. 

For the girls, Abby Harber took fourth and Alexis Walkenhorst took seventh. 

In the boys 50-freestyle, Cale Coleman took second with a state qualifying time of 22.78, Elijah Edison took 12th, and Shane Merille took 24th with a new best time. 

For the girls, Molly Thompson took 11th, Ana-Clare Grann took 12th, Christine McVicker took 32nd and Gabby Edwards took 36th. 

In the boys 100-butterfly, Thomas Lenston took first with a state qualifying time of 56.57, followed in second place by Oscar Ryzhkov with a new best time of 59.38, and John Murphy in fourth. Raj Malik took ninth. 

For the girls, Audrey Lampa took sixth and Mihika Ayyagari took 10th. 

In the boys 100-freestyle, Cale Coleman finished in third with a state qualifying time of 50.98, followed in fourth by Jax Jackson with a state qualifying time of 51.79. Elijah Edison finished in ninth and Tate Robertson took 10th with a new best time. 

In the girls event, Molly Thompson took sixth and Christine McVicker took 18th with a new best time. 

In the boys 500-freestyle, Yan Berezitsky took fourth with a time of 5:20.93, just off the state qualifying time. Bryson Mynatt took sixth, and Shane Merille took seventh. 

For the girls, Alana Drevet took second and Hayden Whalen took seventh. 

In the boys 200-freestyle relay, the A-relay (Gavin Schoeling, Yan Berezitsky, Jax jackson, Cale Coleman) took third with a state qualifying time of 1:36.57. The B-relay (Ryan Robertson, Tate Robertson, Bryson Mynatt, Maor Bigio) took sixth and the C-relay (Aneesh Ayyagari, Raj Malik, Shane Merille, Pranav Kolathaya) took ninth. 

For the girls event, the A-relay (Abby Harber, Ana-Clare Grann, Molly Thompson, Audrey Lampa) took third and the B-relay (Alexis Walkenhorst, Gabby Edwards, Christine McVicker, Mihika Ayyagari) took 10th. 

In the boys 100-backstroke, John Murphy won the event with a 1:00.96, just off the state qualifying time. Gavin Schoeling took second with a new best time, Ryan Robertson took seventh, Maor Bigio took eighth, Pranav Kolathaya took 12th, Tate Robertson took 13th with a new best time. 

In the girls event, Ana-Clare Grann took fifth and Abby Harber took ninth. 

In the boys 100-breast, Thomas Lenston won the event, Gavin Schoeling took third with a new best time, Zach Andersen took fifth, Oscar Ryzhkov took ninth and Aneesh Ayyagari took 11th. 

For the girls, Mihika Ayyagari took fifth with a new best time, Hayden Whalen took seventh, Alexis Walkenhorst took eighth, and Gabby Edwards took 12th. 

In the final event, the boys A-relay for the 400-free (Jax Jackson, Oscar Ryzhkov, Thomas Lenston, Yan Berezitsky) took second with a state qualifying time of 3:36.18. The B-relay (John Murphy, Ryan Robertson, Elijah Edison, Zach Andersen) took fourth, and the C-relay (Aneesh Ayyagari, Shane Merille, Raj Malik, Pranav Kolathaya) took eighth. 

For the girls, the A-relay (Alana Drevet, Hayden Whalen, Mihika Ayyagari, Molly Thompson) took fourth. 

While swimming events were going on, the divers were also competing. Westminster is where the state diving championship will be held again this year, so this was a great opportunity for our divers to get some practice on the boards. Both Brooklyn Petit and Lilah Versluis had outstanding performances. Petit won the event with a score of 293.90, and Versluis took third with a score of 226.40.
