Cambridge Swim & Dive Takes Second for Girls, Combined Score at Blue Devil-Spartan Invite, Sat., Dec. 10th

On Saturday, December 10th, the Bears traveled to the Cobb Aquatic Center in Marietta to compete against Marietta, Campbell, Walton, North Cobb and Kell. At the end of the day, the Bears took second with their combined score, second for the girls team, and third for the boys team. The team added nine new state qualifying times to their roster by the end of the evening.

In the first event of the night, the boys A-medley relay (Zach Andersen, Aaron Grann, Jax Jackson, John Murphy) took fourth and the B-relay (Elijah Edison, Yan Berezitsky, Matthew Harper, Pranav Kolathaya) took 10th. The girls A-relay (Caroline Gaines, Jamie Walsh, Kate Kerber, Jennifer Griner) won the event with a time of 1:56.05. The B-relay (Olivia Skinner, Alana Drevet, Audrey Lampa, Ana-Clare Grann) took fifth.

In the boys 200-freestyle, Gavin Grann shaved more time to go a personal best and take fourth, Gavin Schoeling also went a new best time and took fifth. John Murphy took eighth, Yan Berezitsky took ninth, Aaron Grann took 10th, and Aneesh Ayyagari took 17th. In the girls event, Kate Kerber took the win with a state time of 1:59.52. Abby Harber took fourth with a new best time, Audrey Lampa took eighth with a new best time, and Hayden Whalen took 10th.

In the 200-individual medley, Zach Andersen took eighth. For the girls, Jennifer Griner won the event with a state qualifying time of 2:17.72. Molly Thompson took ninth.

In the boys 50-freestyle, Jax Jackson took ninth, Byson Mynatt took 19th, Ryan Robertson took 24th, Ian Grann took 27th, Pranav Kolathaya took 38th, and Aneesh Ayyagari took 45th. In the girls event, Olivia Skinner took ninth, Ana-Clare Grann took 13th, Mihika Ayyagari took 24th, Abigail Marzullo took 42nd, and Sela Guy took 48th.

During the swim break, the divers took to the boards. Brooklyn Petit won the event for the second meet in a row with a score of 279.80. Hana El-Gazairly took seventh with a score of 201.85, and Lilah Versluis took 11th.

In the boys 100-butterfly, Gavin Schoeling took fourth. Kate Kerber won the event for the girls, followed by Caroline Gaines in second, both with state qualifying times. Samantha Hamitlon took sixth with a new best time.

In the boys 100-freestyle, Gavin Grann shaved off more time from his state cut to take second with a time of 51.09. Aaron Grann took 10th, Bryson Mynatt took 18th, Ryan Robertson took 24th, Tate Robertson took 28th, and Pranav Kolathaya took 39th. In the girls event, Abby Harber took third, Alana Drevet took seventh, Abigail Marzullo took 26th, and Sela Guy took 28th.

In the boys 500-freestyle, Jax Jackson took fifth, Yan Berezitsky took seventh, and John Murphy took eighth. In the girls event, Jennifer Griner clocked her second state cut of the night with a win in the event and a time of 5:22.89.

In the boys 200-freestyle event, the A-relay (Cale Coleman, Aaron Grann, Gavin Schoeling, Gavin Grann) took second overall with a new best time of the season of 1:33.75, which improved their state entry time. The B-relay (Yan Berezitsky, Matthew Harper, Jax Jackson, Ian Grann) took sixth and the C-relay (Bryson Mynatt, Ryan Robertson, Tate Robertson, Aneesha Ayyagari) took 10th. In the girls event, the A-relay disqualified due to an early take off, but Caroline Gaines was able to clock her state qualifying lead-off leg in the 50-free even through the disqualification. The B-relay (Ana-Clare Grann, Alana Drevet, Olivia Skinner, Audrey Lampa) took third, the C-relay (Abigail Marzullo, Molly Thompson, Hayden Whalen, Mihika Ayyagari) took seventh.

In the boys 100-backstroke, Cale Coleman clocked a state qualifying time of 58.52, taking third place overall. Zach Andersen took eighth, and Tate Robertson took 13th. In the girls event, Caroline Gaines clocked her third state cut of the night by taking second in the event with a time of 1:02.68. Jamie Walsh touched in fourth place also with a state qualifying time of 1:05.68. Samantha Hamilton took sixth, Molly Thompson took 11th, and Ana-Clare Grann took 12th.

In the 100-breaststroke for the boys, Cale Coleman took seventh, Elijah Edison took 11th, Matthew Harper took 13th, and Ian Grann took 19th. For the girls, Jamie Walsh touched the wall in second place with her second state cut of the night in a time of 1:13.03, Alana Drevet took third, and Olivia Skinner took fourth. Hayden Whalen took 15th, Mihika Ayyagari took 21st and Audrey Lampa took 24th.

In the final event of the night, the boys A-relay (Gavin Schoeling, Gavin Grann, John Murphy, Cale Coleman) took second, the B-relay (Zach Andersen, Ryan Robertson, Ian Grann, Elijah Edison) took 10th, and C-relay (Bryson Mynatt, Aneesh Ayyagari, Pranav Kolathaya, Tate Robertson) took 13th. In the girls event, the A-relay (Jennifer Griner, Kate Kerber, Abby Harber, Samantha Hamilton) took first and Jennifer Griner was able to clock her third state cut of the night with her leadoff leg of the 100-free in 55.52. The B-relay (Hayden Whalen, Molly Thompson, Mihika Ayyagari, Sela Guy) took eighth.
