Cambridge Swim & Dive Team Tops Wesleyan, Riverwood in Opening Tri-Meet, Thursday, November 10th

On Thursday, November 10th, Cambridge traveled to Wesleyan to compete against the home team and Riverwood. At the end of the day, the meet came down to the last event, with Cambridge taking the close lead over the host team.

In the opening event, the boys medley relay (Zach Andersen, John Murphy, Gavin Schoeling, Jax Jackson) took second with a state qualifying time of 1:54.25. The B-relay (Ryan Robertson, Yan Berezitky, Elijah Edison, Ian Grann) took fifth.

For the girls, the A-relay (Sophie Brison, Caroline Gaines, Kate Kerber, Jennifer Griner) took the lead and held it through the whole race and finished with an over seven-second lead with a time of 1:53.35, which is a state qualifying time. The B-relay (Liel Bigio, Ana-Clare Grann, Jamie Walsh, Abby Harber) took fourth. The C-relay (Molly Thompson, Sela Guy, Hayden Whalen, Abigail Marzullo) took eighth.

Cale Coleman clocked a state qualifying time in the 200-free with a time of 1:52.81, winning the race. Yan Berezitsky took third and Ian Grann took eighth.

Kate Kerber won the 200-free with a state qualifying time of 1:59.10. Teammate Jennifer Griner touched in second with a state qualifying time of 2:01.81. Olivia Skinner took fourth.

Gavin Schoeling clocked his first individual state qualifying time with the 200-IM, with a time of 2:11.37, which earned him second place. John Murphy took fourth and Zach Andersen took fifth.

Caroline Gaines won the 200-IM for the girls with a state qualifying time of 2:16.66. Olivia Skinner took third and Audrey Lampa took fourth.

In the 50-free, Gavin Grann took fourth Mao Bigio took seventh, Elijah Edison took ninth, Bryson Mynatt took 10th, Tate Robinson took 12th, Raj Malik took 14th, and Grey Donner took 18th.

For the girls, Samantha Hamilton took third, Abby Harber took fifth, Ana-Clare Grann took 12th, Hayden Whalen took 15th, Molly Thompson took 18th, Abigail Marzullo took 21st, and Sela Guy took 25th.

For the diving event, Brooklyn Petit took second and Lilah Versluis took fourth, both qualifying for state. Hana El-Gazairly took fifth and Karsyn Warden took sixth.

In the boys 100-butterfly, Maor Bigio took third, John Murphy took fifth, and Zach Andersen took sixth.

For the girls, Sophie Brison won the event with a state qualifying time of 58.26. Jamie Walsh took third and Audrey Lampa took fifth.

Cale Coleman won his second event of the day with the 100-free, with a state qualifying time of 50.44. Gavin Grann took fourth, Ryan Robertson took seventh, Bryson Mynatt took eighth, Tate Robertson took ninth, and Grey Donner took 15th.

Abby Harber took second in the girls 100-free. Liel Bigio took seventh, Ana-Clare Grann took ninth, Hayden Whalen took 11th, Abigail Marzullo took 15th, and Sela Guy took 18th.

Gavin Schoeling took second in the 500-freestyle with a new best time, followed by Elijah Edison in third with a new best time.

Caroline Gaines took third in the 500-free with a state qualifying time of 5:29.52. Jamie Walsh took fourth and Olivia Skinner took fifth.

The boys 200-free relay (Cale Coleman, John Murphy, Maor Bigio, Gavin Grann) won the event with Coleman swimming a state qualifying time in the 50-free lead-off leg. Their time was 1:37.86. The B-relay (Raj Malik, Tate Robertson, Ian Grann, Bryson Mynatt) took fifth.

The girls 200-free relay (Abby Harber, Samantha Hamilton, Liel Bigio, Audrey Lampa) took second with a state qualifying time of 1:52.62. The B-relay (Molly Thompson, Hayden Whalen, Sela Guy, Ana-Clare Grann) took fifth, and the C-relay (Lilah Versluis, Brooklyn Petit, Hana El-Gazairly, Karsyn Warden) took sixth with our divers getting in on the swim action! They beat out four other teams to score points for the Bears!

Jax Jackson won the 100-backstroke event, followed by Ryan Robertson in fifth and Ian Grann in sixth.

Sophie Brison won the 100-backstroke for the girls with a state qualifying time of 56.20. Teammate Jennifer Griner took second with a state qualifying time of 1:03.89. Liel Bigio took sixth.

Yan Berezitsky won the 100-breaststroke event for the boys, followed by Jax Jackson in third.

Kate Kerber won the 100-breaststroke event for the girls with a state qualifying time of 1:11.11. Samantha Hamilton took third.

In the final event of the night, the boys A-relay (Cale Coleman, Maor Bigio, Gavin Grann, Zach Andersen) took second, followed by the B-relay (Jax Jackson, Gavin Schoeling, Elijah Edison, Yan Berezitsky) in third.

The girls relay won the event (Kate Kerber, Caroline Gaines, Jennifer Griner, Sophie Brison) with Kerber swimming a state qualifying lead-off leg of 56.29. The B-relay (Samantha Hamilotn, Audrey Lampa, Olivia Skinner, Jamie Walsh) took fourth and the C-relay (Sela Guy, Molly Thompson, Hayden Whalen, Abigail Marzullo) took seventh.

The Bears will host the County Line Cup where North Fulton schools take on Forsyth schools in a showdown! Diving will be at 7:00 PM on November 18th and then swimming at 12:30 on the 19th. Cambridge will also host Riverwood and Rivers on November 21st at 1:00 PM. Both events will be at the Cumming Aquatic Center!
