Cambridge Swim & Dive Team Comes Out on Top at Time Trials, Saturday, October 29th

On Saturday, October 29th, the Bears competed in their first meet of the season. Coming together with East Forsyth, Central Forsyth, and North Forsyth, the Bears hosted the kick off event of the season at Cumming Aquatic Center. At the end of the day, all relays swam state qualifying times and four individuals made state qualifying cuts.

In the 200-medley relay, the girls kicked things off with a first place finish with Olivia Skinner in backstroke, Jamie Walsh in breaststroke, Kate Kerber in butterfly, and Abby Harber in freestyle with a time of 2:00.14. The B-relay (Ana-Clare Grann, Abigail Marzullo, Audrey Lampa, Hayden Whalen) took second.

In the boys event, the Bears took first with Zach Andersen in backstroke, Aaron Grann in breaststroke, Gavin Schoeling in butterfly and Gavin Grann in freestyle with a time of 1:50.42. The B-relay (Byrson Mynatt, Yan Berezitsky, Matthew Harper, Ian Grann) took second. The C-relay (Ryan Robertson, Aneesh Ayyagari, Elijah Edison, John Murphy) took third.

In the girls 200-freestyle, Samantha Hamilton took second with a time of 2:10.30, followed by Olivia Skinner in third, and Molly Thompson in fifth. For the boys, Yan Berezitsky took second with a time of 2:10.05, followed by Maor Bigio in third, Matthew Harper in fourth, and Elijah Edison swimming a personal best by a substantial margin in fifth.

In the girls 200-IM, Kate Kerber swam a new best in the regular season and took first in the event with a state qualifying time of 2:12.47. In the boys event, Gavin Schoeling also claimed the event with a new personal best time of 2:12.68. Freshman Cale Coleman took second, freshman John Murphy took fourth, and Zach Andersen took fifth.

In the 50-freestyle, Abby Harber took third with a time of 27.49, Alana Drevet took fifth, Ana-Clare Grann took 13th, Hayden Whalen took 17th, Mihika Ayyagari took 23rd, and Abigail Marzullo took 30th. In the boys event, Gavin Grann took fifth with a time of 24.30, followed by Aaron Grann in 7th, Bryson Mynatt in 17th, Tate Robertson in 19th, Ian Grann in 20th, Raj Malik in 21st, Aneesh Ayyagari in 26th and Grey Donner in 27th.

Kate Kerber clocked her second first place state qualifying finish in the 100-butterfly with a time of 1:01.79. Audrey Lampa took fifth. The boys also claimed the event with Gavin Schoeling taking first with a time of 59.47. Freshman Jax Jackson took fourth, and Matthew Harper took seventh.

In the girls 100-freestyle, Samantha Hamilton took first with a time of 1:00.00, followed by teammate Abby Harber in second. Molly Thompson took 10th and Sela Guy took 20th. For the boys, freshman Cale Coleman crushed the competition to clock his first state qualifying individual event. Touching the wall in 49.95 punches his ticket to state early in the season. Teammate Gavin Grann came in second, followed by John Murphy in third, Ryan Robertson with a new personal best took ninth, Ian Grann took 12th, Pranav Kolathaya took 14th, and Grey Donner took 16th.

In the girls 500-freestyle, Jamie Walsh clocked her first state qualifying time with her first place finish of 5:30.08, which is also a new personal best. Jax Jackson won the event for the boys with a time of 5:30.32. Yan Berezitsky took third and Zach Andersen took fourth.

In the 200-freestyle relay, the girls A-relay (Samantha Hamilton, Abby Harber, Audrey Lampa, Olivia Skinner) took first with a state qualifying time of 1:50.07. The B-relay (Hayden Whalen, ALana Drevet, Mihika Ayyagari, Ana-Clare Grann) took fourth, and the C-relay (Molly Thompson, Abigail Marzullo, Sela Guy, Jamie Walsh) took seventh.

In the boys relay, the A-relay (Aaron Grann, Jax Jackson, Cale Coleman, Bryson Mynatt) took second with a state qualifying time of 1:38.56. The C-relay (Pranav Kolathaya, Raj Malik, John Murphy, Tate Robertson) took fourth and the B-relay (Aneesh Ayyagari, Maor Bigio, Elijah Edison, Ian Grann) took sixth.

In the girls 100-backstroke, Olivia Skinner just barely missed the state qualifying time with a time of 1:06.04, taking second place overall. Hayden Whalen took seventh, Audrey Lampa took eighth, Ana-Clare Grann took ninth, and Abigail Marzullo took 13th. For the boys, Eijah Edison took fifth with a new personal best time of 1:08.46. Ryan Robertson swam another personal best and took seventh and Aneesh Ayyagari took 11th.

In the girls 100-breaststroke, freshman Alana Drevet won the event with a state qualifying time of 1:14.69, followed by Jamie Walsh in second. Mihika Ayyagari took eighth and Sela Guy took ninth. For the boys, Aaron Grann took first with a time of 1:09.22. Maor Bigio took sixth, Raj Malik took 11th, and Bryson Mynatt took 13th.

In the final event of the day, the Bears swept the relay. The girls claimed first with the A-relay (Kate Kerber, Alana Drevet, Samantha Hamilton, Jamie Walsh) taking the win with a state qualifying time of 4:06.35, and the B-relay (Abigail Marzullo, Sela Guy, Mihika Ayyagari, Molly Thompson) took second. The boys won the event with the A-relay (Gavin Grann, Zach Andersen, Cale Coleman, Jax Jackson) with a state qualifying time of 3:39.17, followed by the B-relay (Yan Berezitsky, Gavin Schoeling, Matthew Harper, Maor Bigio) took second and the C-relay (Tate Robertson, Pranav Kolathaya, Raj Malik, Ryan Robertson) took third.

The Bears will travel to Wesleyan next Thursday, November 10th to face off against the home school and Riverwood. This will be the first competition for the divers for the season!
