Bears Dive Team Claims Top 6 Places in Cambridge Dive Invitational, Wednesday, Dec 29th

On Wednesday, December 29th, Cambridge divers hosted an invitational at Cumming Aquatic Center. Six divers competed for the Bears and they swept all top six spots in the finishing scores.

At the top, senior captain Emilija Ragaine and freshman Brooklyn Petit tied with 228.35 points each. Senior Addy Woods took third place with a score of 200.80, followed by Hana El-Gazairly in fourth with 193.90, Julia Versluis in fifth with 191.10 (Versluis performed the dive with the highest degree of difficulty - 2.7 - for the day among all divers), and Lilah Versluis in sixth with a score of 187.45.

All six divers have qualified for the state team, which is the most the Cambridge dive program has ever had qualify for the girls' team. The four divers with the highest average score will represent the Bears at Georgia Tech in February. The divers will potentially make the difference for the girls' squad in the final score of the meet. If all four divers can qualify to score, that will set up the girls in the swimming portion of the meet with a generous lead that will be necessary if the Bears want to reclaim the state championship title. The dive program is incredibly talented this year and we are looking forward to their incredibly important contributions!

Ragaine, Petit, Woods and J Versluis will be competing for the Bears at Fulton County Championships next week, Thursday, January 6th, 2022, held at West Gwinnett Aquatic Center. The meet is hosted by Riverwood this year.
