New Swim Coach comes to Cambridge

To Our Cambridge High School student-athletes and parents,

Welcome to a new year and a new school!  My name is Lauren Hall, and I will be your swim team head coach.  I am excited to meet all of you and make the school's inaugural season a successful one!

Thinking back to my freshman year in high school and getting into our school's aquatics program with practically no competitive, let alone organized swimming experience, make me reflect on the person I have become as a result.  My coach took a risk on me that year.  He gave me a chance that no one else would.  I will forever be grateful for that opportunity which truly changed the course of my life.  That experience has instilled in me a mindset, as a coach and a continuing athlete, that everyone has the potential to do something great.  By tapping into the joy that experience brings, I was able to develop that desire to achieve and win.

This year, we are going to focus a lot of energy in developing depth in our program to promote longevity and continued success, and that will come with a lot of leadership by our older athletes and a lot of dedication and support from everyone, including our parents.  It will be crucial for the integrity of our team that our athletes are achieving at high levels in the class room and in the pool, so there will be strict and high standards for our team to maintain.  With those high standards comes a tremendous amount of support.  Just as our athletes are students first, I am a teacher first, so I will be there to support our athletes both academically as well as athletically.

In the coming weeks before school officially begins, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at cambridgebears.swimming@gmail.com.  To prepare for the season, athletes will need the obvious items for pool workouts, but also we will be doing a lot of strength and conditioning work to prevent injuries and build core stability.  Athletes should be prepared with a good pair of running/cross training shoes and workout attire.  Stay tuned at the beginning of the year for notices about team meetings, schedules and facility selection.

I am really looking forward to getting started.

Sincerely,
Lauren Hall
