Lady Bears Softball Wins over Westminster 16-8; Loses to Pope 8-0, Saturday, August 13th
Lady Bears Defeat Westminster 16-8 Despite Allowing 5-Run Inning
 
Even though Cambridge gave up five runs in the second inning, they still defeated Westminster 16-8 on Saturday, August 13th. 
 
The base paths were crowded in this high-scoring game with the Bears collecting 12 hits while Westminster had nine.
 
In the first inning, the Bears got their offense started.  Mason McDermott drove in three runs with a single.
 
The Bears pulled away for good with five runs in the second inning. Jessica Chan tripled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run, Mason McDermott doubled, scoring one run, Anna Hardee doubled, scoring one run, and Mackenzie Schoeneck singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
 
Jayda Braithwaite earned the victory in the circle for the Bears. Braithwaite allowed nine hits and eight runs over four innings, striking out two.  Grace Barrett threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
  
The Bears collected 12 hits with McDermott, Chan, Schoeneck, and Annie Womack all managing multiple hits for Cambridge.  
 
 
Pope Captures Lead Early to Defeat Cambridge 8-0, Saturday, August 13th
 
The Lady Bears fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 8-0 loss to Pope on Saturday, August 13th.  The Bears struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Pope.
  
A single by Amari Givers in the second inning was a positive for the Bears.
  
Grace Barrett took the loss. She went four innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits and walking one. Givers went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead the team in hits.
