Cambridge Softball Maintains Region Lead with 12 Run Win Over Alpharetta, Wednesday, August 28th

The Varsity Bears maintained their first-place region standing with a 15-3 win over Alpharetta on Wednesday, August 28th.

The Bears got on the board in the first inning. Chooch Carroll grounded out, scoring one run. Alpharetta evened things up at two in the bottom of the first inning, scoring one run.

Cambridge pulled away for good with one run in the second inning. In the second Ariel Birnbaum doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run. The Bears notched seven runs in the sixth inning. Carroll, Liz SeymourAmari Givers, Birnbaum, and Nikki Tanguay all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Lauren Cooper was the winning pitcher for the Bears with only allowing eight hits and three runs over six innings, striking out three and walking zero. The Alpharetta pitcher lasted six innings, allowing 21 hits and 15 runs while striking out two.

The Bears racked up 21 hits on the day with Seymour, Carroll, Sydney Granby, Birnbaum, Grace Barrett, Tanguay, and Livi Payne all collecting multiple hits for the Bears. Carroll tallied two home runs on the day with dingers in the third and sixth innings. Birnbaum, Granby, Carroll, and Seymour all had three hits each. Cambridge was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Seymour made the most plays with nine.
