With Jessie On The Mound, the Lady Bears Shut Out Centennial, Thursday, August 15th
Jessie Smith didn't allow a single run against Centennial, throwing a complete game shutout and leading the Bears to a 10-0 victory on Thursday.
The Bears fired up the offense in the first inning. Ariel Birnbaum drove in one when she doubled. The Bears scored four runs in the third inning when Liz Seymour, Sydney Granby, and Grace Barrett drove in runs during the inning.
Smith got the win pitching five innings, allowing three hits and zero runs while striking out two.
The Bears collected 11 hits. Granby and Livi Payne each collected multiple hits. Payne and Granby each managed two hits. The Bears defense was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Seymour had the most chances in the field with eight.
Third Inning Plays Key Role as the Lady Bears Defeat Dunwoody, Tuesday, August 13th
The Lady Bears knocked in seven runs in the third on its way to an 11-1 victory over Dunwoody on Tuesday. The offensive firepower by was led by Chooch Carroll, Sydney Granby, Jessie Smith, and Jenna Marlow, all knocking in runs in the inning.
In the bottom of the first inning the Lady Bears tied things up at one apiece as Carroll grounded out, scoring one run.
The Bears pulled away for good with seven runs in the third inning. Carroll drew a walk, scoring one run. Granby doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs. Smith singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, and Marlow grounded out, scoring one run.
Lauren Cooper got the win for Bears. She surrendered one run on four hits over four innings, striking out one and walking one. Smith threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Nikki Tanguay went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Lady Bears.
