Cambridge Bears Varsity softball defeated Dunwoody 7-3 on Thursday September 13th after taking the lead late in the game.
The Bears trailed 3-2 in the top of the seventh inning when Nikki Tanguay hit a grand slam on a 1-1 count, scoring four runs. Tanguay led the Bears to victory by driving in five runs. She went 3-for-4 at the plate. Tanguay drove in runs on a single in the third and a grand slam in the seventh.
The Bears scattered 11 hits in the game. Nikki Tanguay, Ariel Birnbaum, and Livi Payne each collected multiple hits while Haley Brown, Luci Allen, Audrey Smith, and Jenna Marlow all had single hits. The Bears didn't commit a single error in the field.
Lauren Cooper earned the win. She lasted seven innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out three.
The win moved the Bears into 2nd place in the division with a 7-3 Division record.
