Varsity Boys Tennis Wins 7AAAAA Region Tournament for 2nd Straight Year

Varsity Boys Tennis Wins 7AAAAA Region Tournament for 2nd Straight Year

Fresh off of Spring Break, the Cambridge Bears Boys Tennis team registered wins over Dalton, Riverwood and  River Ridge April 12-13th for the right to hoist the 7AAAAA Region Championship trophy for the second year in a row.

The success during the season is attributed to the entire team contributing wins to go undefeated in Region play and earn a favorable seeding in the Region playoff.

Singles lines of Carson Harrell (1), Drew Fruehauf (2), Ryan Edmiston (3) along with the doubles lines of Zac Hirschler & Joey Ladaga (1) and Kez Fitzgerald & Jason Weiner (2) played some great tennis in the playoffs.  The victory over a very good River Ridge team was secured by Fruehauf, Hirschler/Ladaga and finally Fitzgerald/Weiner in a trilling second set tie-breaker to earn the region championship title.

With the Bears Girls tennis team 3-peat region win, Cambridge HS is establishing a very consistent record of high quality tennis under the leadership of Coach Feldman and Coach Schultz.

Next up for the Bears are the GHSA State Playoffs with home matches likely next week for both the girls and boys tennis.

Go Bears!
