Boys Varsity Soccer Lose to Riverwood 3-1, Friday, March 26th

Cambridge Boys Varsity Soccer fell to Riverwood on Friday Night, March 26th at The Bridge.

The Bears surrendered their third loss in region play this season placing the Bears fifth in conference standings and one slot out of GHSA Playoffs.

Riverwood finished off a controversial first half goal giving the Raiders a 1-0 lead. Cambridge center back Patrick Bourne bravely blocked a Raider shot ricocheting off his face and would need to leave the game due to concussion.  Going into halftime the Bears would need to lean heavily into JV reserves with Kevin Murray, Dylan Bent And Keegan Matthews stepping up to fill-in the injured Varsity roster.

In the 2nd half Cambridge made adjustments and battled bravely but Riverwood found a second goal increasing their lead to 2-0. With a roll of the dice the Bears sent Senior Brett Highlander up top as a fourth forward to play alongside Senior Carter Johnson in  hopes that the creativity would generate a couple goals. The Bears would win a penalty later in the second half off of strong hold up play from Sophomore Colin Clark. TrustWorkz Man Of The Match, Senior Erik Holmen, cooley converted but only as consolation.

Final score Riverwood 3, Bears 1.

With Cambridge playoff hopes still mathematically alive the Bears will play Sequoyah at home Tuesday March 30 on a must win Senior night.

Go Bears!
